This is how you know things are getting back to normal: Sunday Afternoon Fantasy Cooking!

It's about time to work up the stuffing recipe I make every year. That's the one that has pecans and onions and celery and garlic in it, along with about six pounds of butter.

This year, I'm having only those things I like about Thanksgiving for Thanksgiving. That means mashed potatoes and stuffing, asparagus, steamed green beans, pie (probably cherry) and bratwurst.

What? You don't eat bratwurst for Thanksgiving?

Or maybe I'll go get some fried chicken in the hood the day before. Cold fried chicken with all the trimmings....or barbecue. Hmmm. Barbecue for Thanksgiving.

No matter how the food works out, the evening's entertainment will involve going to see "Burlesque" at the movie theater/bar/restaurant here in town. Nothing could top a quiet Thanksgiving in like Cher and Aguilera in spangles.

Bratwurst at Thanksgiving, or even cold chicken, sounds fun. If you can't eat what you want, what kind of holiday is it?

So what's wrong with bratwurst for Thanksgiving? One year we did German - rinderrouladen and spaetzle and rotkraut and gulyassuppe! Of course, in deference to those of our guests who were a little weirded out by dishes they'd never heard of before, we also did more traditional stuff as well (turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, green beans, etc). Great fun!

You should have whatever you damned well please for Thanksgiving - you have some celebrating to do, with the cancer gone!!!

I like your version of thanksgiving. Give me bratwurst over turkey any day!

I say "yippee" to the cold fried chicken. But, not from the hood. Would prefer my southern born ex-MIL's. Man that was some good eating. Sides? Hush puppies, collard greens, corn bread and coleslaw. My idea of heaven. Mmm, mmm finger licking good!
