Home again, home again.

I came home today from the hospital after twenty-four hours of Dilaudid PCA and Lortab elixir. (Dilaudid is great and all, but it was really too strong for me.)

In order of importance:

My airway is clear
I sound like Mushmouth from the old Fat Albert show
I can swallow small amounts of not-pointy things
Occasionally I get nasal regurgitation, which is gross
There is actually less pain with this than there was with the biopsy
I snore like a freaking freight train thanks to this surgery
The obdurator doesn't fit right and will have to be revised.

The obdurator doesn't fit right because Dr. Crane only had to take out one tooth instead of two (hooray) and the tumor wasn't *quite* as large as we'd feared (hooray) and all that.

I am exhausted, honestly. I need some good sleep and maybe some nice boring scrambled eggs for brekkers. I'll catch you guys up in between doses of meds.

I just breathed an audible sigh of relief. I was grateful you let us know you were okay after surgery, but I am delighted you are home. Hang in there. We're in your court.

OMG Mushmouth! "Hey-bedaba!" LOL!

Glad you're home and okay. I recommend you watch old Fat Albert cartoons to keep yourself occupied.

Welcome home. Glad all is improving. And better than expected. And hey - at least you have a good excuse for the snoring. : )

Wow, there's a lot of good news crammed into one post! I'm so sorry about your obdurator fit being incorrect; I sure hope they can make you a new one quickly and that it's under warranty. ;o)))

Sleep tight and here's hoping things just get better from here. Welcome home, Jo!!!

Glad to hear things are going reasonably well. I've been absent for a few weeks and have been wondering how all has been on the lumpy front.

Brilliant!!!! If you can write that much you must be feeling pretty human again. So pleased about the positives - the other bits will be resolved.

many hugs, Eileen

So glad you're home and that all went well!

Hope you get a better fitting obdurator soon. How can one be obdurate without a proper obdurator?

Sending healing thoughts and hugs and hopes for a quick recovery.

I am posting a comment to Nurse Jo's blog, from Nurse Jo's computer, while Nurse Jo sleeps in the next room. It's like a freaking Mobius Strip, or something.

Awesome news, kiddo!

Dilaudid is a great pain med but at some point after a procedure is over, I always have to head back to the ED and have them drain my bladder. Why does the ED doc always assign the new nurse for the duty? A Foley catheter isn't erotic for either of us...

Praying for good sleep over the next several days, and that they get the obdurator right.

New word for the day "obdurator", must look that up. Sounds like a bite splint.

So glad you are home and healing. Sending sunshine and healing vibes your way.

I like that the tumor was smaller than expected.
