An announcement:

I'm leaving nursing.

This has been coming for a while. Over the last eight years, I've experienced a lot and learned a lot, but it's time I go back to my first love.

For that reason, this blog is going to transition to a static site between now and May, when I re-enter school to get a degree in sports turf management from the University of Mississippi. It's going to be a difficult readjustment, but I really think it's for the best.

The nursing experience will continue to serve me well, especially in dealing with mower-related injuries.

  3. Nursing is ok I guess if you can't find anything better to do, but if there is one group of professionals that are underpaid and underappreciated in today's society, it is the brave men and women that put it all on the line tending shrubbery day in, day out.

    ;D

I think I will just continue with the turf management on my body.

Although this is a good day to think about different career options, because sometimes a feel like a fool still being a nurse.

  7. Ha!

I was going to April fools my mother with an "I'm pregnant and quitting school" phone call but then realised she might have a jammer and it'd be all my fault.

  11. Nah. Go to Zamboni-driver school. Much more fun to drive than a mower.

  12. Hah! There's a lot to be said for sports turf management.

For today I put some magazines dating from 1977 on display in our waiting room (my parents had been storing them in their garage for some unknown reason). Sadly, we only got two comments. I thought it was pretty funny though.

  14. I was so shocked by the first line, I actually spent at least 10 seconds pondering sports turf management.

That's a rotten thing to do to a fella.

    Well played.

  15. Hey, I'm doing almost exactly the opposite of you. I have a degree in Ornamental Horticulture and have worked in that field for 15 years....now I am in nursing school, graduating this May. Good luck!

  22. Whew! I didn't even realize the date of your post, since I'm just catching up now. I am a lurker on your site and have shared the link with many of my friends. I just quit my job as an accountant and am starting school in May for an accelerated BSN program, and was coming on here to wish you the best! I will still wish you the best, and am grateful that I will still have your blog to look forward to reading! Your an amazing writer and nurse, thanks for sharing your life with us!
