This was so informat...Thank you so much Head Nurse. This was so informative. I have an issue with constipation - getting to upper 60's -- sometimes poop comes out in rock hard balls. That or heavy buildup stretch/scratch/irritate the exit port and bleeding can happen.

I have studied for solutions for a long time. One thing I learned, FYI my bowels did not rotate when I was a child so an appendicitis would be on the left side vs right. I have read to sit on the pot and raise feet but encountered a lot of bleeding on far too many movements. I stand up and strain to push the crap out and though requiring a lot of pressure more often than not I can push things on through with minimal or no bleeding.

The VA doctor who specializes in bowels and hemorrhoids gave me
Ducosate- 100mg pills to take at bedtime and on awakening. Personally I think they are placebos, seem to have less effect than over the counter ducosate. Right now I am about to take at least 5oz of Magnesium Citrate to clean things out.

once every 2-3 days I give myself a water enema (used one mineral oil before (but no follow up water enema to flush out and hydrate as indicated in this blog - and used one saline enema). I use a bulb that I wash out with hot water vs a huge bag.

I have some questions as well as welcome your response and analysis of what I have written.

I have some type 2 diabetes and take gyptizide and metformin.

Do you see any problem with standing, aside from sometimes making a mess on the commode? Ideally I would like to be able to sit up straight and move. Do you think that my bowels not rotating cause need of this?

From what I have read before the effect of passing gas, often with a minimal of straining as obstruction increases, seems to indicate that my bowels have stretched and poop is pushed to the side allowing gas by until clogged without relieving of poop. I am going to take MgCitrate to clean all out. Don't know the next step??

Will bowels un-swell and hemorrhoids go away and reduce in size so no pocketing of poop occurs? Is there anything to take to make cells in my body and skin more pliable?

To my understanding, more normal movements (not so big and sometimes so hard) will reduce hemorrhoids?

I will start with what you have here. It sounds like the Ducoste is a no no and MgCitrate or water/saline enemas may be the way towards more normal movement. If Mg citrate or Milk of magnesia are taken orally every couple of weeks and a saline or water enema with movement if needed - does this sound like it will help normalize things and reduce hemorrhoids and swelling? Is there something to take that helps with cell pliability and healing?

What I would do to get a normal movement with no heavy straining or straining at all with no bleeding or pain/swelling. I drink lots of water and am chewing food well with plenty of water yet facing these issues. I do use Anecream to help reduce swelling when mucho pain is there (a real pain in the butt Ha) otherwise I frequently use Cortizone to keep the exit port moist.

I welcome your advise and thanks so much for the info here.
I used to joke and used a phrase revised "Backlog date 2114.6". LOL! Now I declare, "beam it out Scotty". Ha! Thanks again! Been plugged up for a month or two; a few weeks ago went to the doctor who prescribed some stuff that's just now starting to work, and who set a colonoscopy appointment for me. Trouble is, I can't get in for that procedure for another month. My bowels can't wait that long, and I've done this enema twice with great success. If the trouble continues, I'll probably do it weekly until my appointment. Hope that's not too often.LuanaBeenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833607.post-15864658751879859452016-04-07T07:48:51.933-07:002016-04-07T07:48:51.933-07:00I'd like to compliment the poster who suggeste...I'd like to compliment the poster who suggested manual disimpaction from the outside a few inches from the anus. He had an X-ray to rule out kidney stones and found he was full of poop, urgent care did nothing. His pediatrician got the X-ray and ordered a miralax clean out 8 cap fulls in 64 oz of Gatorade in 4 hours. We did this twice then they did another X-ray, he was packed full of poop still. Yesterday they did 2 smog enemas, 60cc each and he barely pooped afterwards. They said to do another miralax clean out when we got home, he pooped a few times got to the liquid stage but no way enough to have it all out. Then I went to er and they sent me home with a mineral oil enema. I followed instructions but all I pooped was the liquid. I got on line found this blog. I then went back to the bathroom and filed the little enema bottle with warm water. Tried pooping but still was stuck. I then tried what some one posted about massaging the butt cheek close to the anus. I dug just a little out but then I massaged again and not to sound crude but six inches of poop finally fell to the toilet and I feel so much better.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833607.post-19992636110404682512015-08-18T19:09:56.428-07:002015-08-18T19:09:56.428-07:00You are a lifesaver. If it's been that long, use the mineral oil, your stool is going to be hard, dry and in big chunks, the mineral oil will help lube up your tissue, causing the least amount of damage. You may need to put a glove on, coat a finger with lubricant or preparation H, and pull out any stool sitting within the reach of your fingertip, then the liquid from the enema will be able to get up higher and work better. You might have to do the enemas a couple days in a row.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08375765456278681141noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833607.post-73580972861824282562015-07-31T14:28:31.423-07:002015-07-31T14:28:31.423-07:00You probably have hard stool in your rectum, taki...You probably have hard stool in your rectum, taking oral meds won't clear it unless you go to a laxative like MOM, or mag citrate. They come 4 in a small box and are 7.5 mls. They are safe and VERY effective. Try not to get any of the liquid on your rectum (on the outside ) if you do, just quickly wipe with a baby wipe or TP. The glycerin won't hurt you, but I have learned from personal experience, when it gets on the outside rectal skin it causes an intense need to poop....like now. And you really need to try and hold it in for 5 minutes for the best results. We use glycerin for babies all the time (was a PICU nurse for 17 years) I tried the suppositories for me, with NO results, but the liquid glycerin works wonders. I had been stopped up for about 10 days and was really starting to worry. After reading your post and the comments I went to Walmart and armed myself with Milk of Magnesia, Magnesium Citrate, Glycerin suppositories, and as a final weapon should it be needed, the extra large size Fleet enema. Thankfully, after about 10 hours the MOM kicked in sufficiently to give me relief, so I didn't have to resort to any of the rest of my arsenal, but I'm well ready for any future attacks should they occur. The first one being teachers, and the second being NURSES!!! You guys should be making TWICE the amount that doctors make!!! Seriously, I bow to you. I really am so thankful to you, and REALLY thankful that you had a beer or two;) lol Although I am not a nurse, I am an expert at constipation, and "impacted" stuff...as I have been suffering from both forEVER.
My favorite remedy, and most effective, is definitely the Magnesium Citrate Solution. Actually, my SO just brought me some home. It's been a miserable day, and I have been googling, trying to find something that might work better for the "impact" problem. Although the M.S. almost always works, there was a time that it did not work and I ended up in the ER. NOT. PLEASANT. I'm afraid that this time might be similar, so I was hoping to find a magic solution. After reading your blog, I suppose I'd better just stick to my bottle of MS. Bottoms up, and Cheers! :S Wish me luck.
Thanks again for all you and the rest of your profession deals with day in and day out!!!! :) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6833607.post-14993232501932612232013-11-14T20:34:02.067-08:002013-11-14T20:34:02.067-08:00I am 4 days out from a cystocele repair and rectoc...I am 4 days out from a cystocele repair and rectocele repair.
